Play PC Games on Your PS VR2 Headset Starting This August

When PlayStation VR2 launched last year, it introduced PS5 owners to a new generation of virtual reality with cutting-edge visuals and immersive features. Now, Sony is extending that experience to PC. Beginning August 7, PS VR2 will support PC play, giving users access to an even broader library of content alongside the headset’s existing PS5 lineup. Through this update, players can dive into Steam’s collection of VR hits including Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder.

To get started, players will need the new PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, priced at approximately $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99, available via select retailers and direct.playstation.com. A separate DisplayPort 1.4 cable is also required, along with a Steam account and a PC that meets the listed minimum specifications.

Minimum PC requirements
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or newer)
Memory: 8 GB or more
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or newer), NVIDIA RTX series, or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT / RX 6500XT or later. (For optimal performance, Sony recommends an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or later, or an AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later.)
DisplayPort: Version 1.4, with a standard or Mini DisplayPort output
USB: Direct connection only
Bluetooth: 4.0 or later

Setup is straightforward. Connect PS VR2 to the PC with the adapter and DisplayPort 1.4 cable, then install the PlayStation VR2 App and SteamVR from Steam. From there, users can adjust their play area, tweak settings, and start browsing and buying SteamVR games. Performance may vary depending on PC configuration, so it’s important to check both Sony’s requirements and the specifications for individual SteamVR titles.

Some headset features are exclusive to PS5 and won’t carry over to PC. HDR visuals, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and advanced haptic effects are not supported outside of PlayStation 5. However, key elements like 4K resolution (2000 × 2040 per eye), a wide 110° field of view, finger touch detection, see-through mode, foveated rendering (without eye tracking), and 3D audio remain available in supported PC games.

While the deepest integration is still found on PS5, the option to connect PS VR2 to PC gives players a much wider selection of VR worlds to explore. Steam’s catalog spans genres from survival horror and action-stealth to sports simulations, puzzles, and popular free-to-play titles.

As part of the ongoing Days of Play campaign, buyers in select regions can also claim $100 off PS VR2 and the PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle until June 12. Availability and promotions vary by region, so check direct.playstation.com or local retailers for details.
