Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Release Date Confirmed for PS5 and PS4 With New Features

Atlus has revealed new details about Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the definitive edition of its acclaimed RPG. Launching June 14 on PS5 and PS4, this enhanced release introduces deeper combat, fresh demon experiences, expanded exploration, and dozens of quality-of-life upgrades. Game Director Shigeo Komori has shared what players can look forward to when stepping back into Da’at.

A battle system with sharper edges

Combat lies at the core of the SMT experience, and in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance it has been refined and expanded. Over 270 demons now come with new abilities, alongside the addition of powerful Magatsuhi Skills. These team-based techniques are tied to periapts, special talismans that require certain demons to activate. With careful planning, players can unleash devastating elemental attacks, heal their party, or gain critical buffs at key moments.

The dangers of Da’at have grown as well. Red-glowing Magatsuhi demons actively hunt players, striking with their own brutal abilities. Defeating them offers rare loot such as Incense, bonus EXP, and plenty of Macca. Veterans will be tested further with the raised level cap of 150 and the fearsome Godborn difficulty mode, which turns every encounter into a trial of endurance.

Demons take center stage

For the first time in the series, players can control individual demons during special quests. Fan favorites like Alice and Pixie, along with new allies such as Nahobeeho, step into the spotlight in stories that showcase their skills and personalities. These side missions not only add narrative depth but can also promote demons to Navigator roles, aiding exploration.

The new Demon Haunts feature deepens relationships further. In these safe zones, players can chat with companions, improve stats, unlock rewards, and even use a free camera mode to capture memorable moments with favorite demons. Building these bonds is key to creating an unstoppable team.

A wider, richer world to explore

Exploration in Vengeance feels more open and rewarding. Magatsuhi Rails allow shortcuts to hidden areas, while new zones such as the Shinjuku Ward and the mysterious Shakan dungeon expand the Canon of Vengeance storyline.

Improved navigation tools help players traverse Da’at more easily. Navigators leave vapor trails to track, discovered points shine with guiding light, and a new sky view broadens the perspective. Enhanced map icons and quest markers provide additional clarity, while a larger roster of navigators gives players more choice in how they approach the world.

Accessibility and refinements

Beyond new content, dozens of adjustments smooth out the experience. Saving is now possible anywhere, relics are easier to pick up, and Estoma has been reworked into a Miracle, consuming Magatsuhi instead of MP. Ambushes from aerial enemies are less common, and players can still gain the initiative by striking foes from behind, even when detected.

Additional Miracles and expanded demon encounter options give more room for experimentation. Tutorials can also be revisited at any time, making it easier for newcomers to settle in without losing track of the mechanics.

The definitive version of SMT V

With its expanded combat, new demon-focused quests, larger regions to explore, and smart quality-of-life upgrades, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance delivers the most complete edition of the game yet. It strikes a balance between challenge and accessibility, making it both a welcoming entry point and a rewarding return for longtime fans.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance launches worldwide on June 14 for PS5 and PS4, marking the next major chapter in Atlus’ legendary RPG series.
